Wizards’ War

I am nearly completed with this manuscript (Hooray!!!). This is the prequel about sixty years before the events in Quest for the Fallen Star.

Synopsis

The story is from the point of view of Apprentice A’stoc. His name is Lamar Westas before acquiring his wizard-apprentice name A’stoc (in the ring-rune tongue his name means “seeker”). At its core, this story is about how a young man, with a desire to become a wizard, finds himself in a world on the verge of destruction, and he is swept up in the battle against the forces of evil. He is a naive young man forced to grow up, accept the world he is given, and make the hardest choices for himself and the magical world of Infinitera.

The Writing Process

Now, why the hell would I write about what happened before Quest and not the story after Quest? Well, because as I was writing Quest, I was writing back story to create a realistic feel to my world of Infinitera. I created a whole series of events that led to where the characters were today. And when I did that, I realized that there was a whole other story there. But I stuck to my guns and finished the Quest manuscript, and turned to drafting Wizards’ War.

My imagination does not run out, I dream up one thing after another to fit into Infinitera. I love this world! I used to play a lot in this world. So, it’s turned into a whole alternate reality for me. I don’t know why I dream up far-fetched fantasy, but I do. Most probably influenced by all those fantasy books I read as a kid. That’s part of it. But the other part is that my brain works differently from a lot of folks I know. I have a crazy imagination, always trying to fit two weird thoughts together to make some new one. Virtual reality has always been more fun than the reality I’m stuck with. I think that is why I have such an addiction to playing computer games like Civilization III and IV. I like being ruler of worlds of my own design.

Possible Later Books

What this list below represents is a conglomeration of thought games and notes and a few drafted chapters of additional things I’d like to write about in Infinitera. And if I have the opportunity, I’ll write them. If not, then into the black hole when I die.

Hope for Infinitera is the story idea for right after Quest. It is from Chentelle’s point of view. This is the one that fans expected to have written. But alas, I have about three chapters drafted and not much else except for some thoughts and whims. Hopefully, I can turn this into reality one day.

As for the rest of the title ideas, they are bits and fritters of thoughts and notes.

  • Hope for Infinitera
  • King of Tengar
  • The Hordeland War
  • The Dragon Lords of Infinitera
  • The Shipsages of Inarr
  • The Unmaking of Creation
